Description
I am pleased to offer from my private collection this exceptional Art Deco period silver cigarette case featuring a striking Memento Mori motif in gilt and enamel. The front is beautifully engine-turned with geometric linear engraving, bordered by cobalt blue and gold enamel accents. At the center sits a finely detailed skull-and-crossbones emblem with the Latin motto “MEMENTO MORI” (“Remember You Must Die”), rendered in gilt relief.
The interior retains its original gilded finish with a period elastic strap. A superb example of early 20th-century craftsmanship, combining symbolism, design, and luxury.
