I am pleased to offer from my private collection this  extraordinary and rare 18th-century French pocket watch, featuring an elaborately cast gilt bronze (ormolu) case in striking “Memento Mori” style, complete with skulls, skeletons, and macabre motifs. The case is adorned with finely detailed sculptural elements: a Grim Reaper figure at the bow, dragon heads, and a radiating sunburst filled with miniature skulls and skeletons surrounding a black enamel center panel inscribed Memento Mori (“Remember you must die”). Inside is a beautifully hand-finished verge fusee movement signed “Henry à Dieppe,” complete with its original matching winding key. The timepiece is fully functional and keeps good time for its age.
