Beneath the serpent lies a scroll bearing the Latin inscription “Sic Transit Gloria Mundi” (“Thus passes the glory of the world”). The silver engine-turned dial is exquisitely engraved with floral motifs, Roman numerals, and intricate detailing throughout. A recessed sub-seconds dial adds further elegance. Housed in a fully hallmarked silver case with a London assay mark and date letter “D” for 1879, this piece is fitted with a high-quality English lever escapement movement, signed C.
