Vintage Junghans Automatic Award Watch – King Ibn Saud Portrait & Saudi Emblem

This is a rare vintage Junghans Automatic wristwatch featuring a highly collectible dial with a portrait of King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud, the founder and first monarch of Saudi Arabia, alongside the Saudi national emblem (palm tree and crossed swords). Watches of this type were not commercially available; they were typically commissioned as presentation or award pieces for diplomats, officials, or individuals who rendered distinguished service to the Kingdom.

The watch is powered by an automatic movement and features the original Discus-safe waterproof case back (marked RP, 4 ATÜ). It retains its original applied hour markers, date window at 3 o’clock, and unique dial artwork. The watch runs perfectly and keeps accurate time.

Historical Context

King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud (1875–1953) was the founding father of modern Saudi Arabia, unifying the Arabian Peninsula in 1932. During his reign, Saudi Arabia established its place on the world stage through political alliances and the discovery of vast oil reserves.
