This specific watch was commissioned to honor the early German armored divisions (Panzertruppe). Historically, the Totenkopf was an emblem rooted in the elite Prussian Black Hussar cavalry regiments of the 18th and 19th centuries, later adopted by tank crews to symbolize their lineage as the modern heavily armored successors to the cavalry.
