I am pleased to offer from my private collection this one of a kind and important historical antique WWI Great War era Imperial Faberge award cigarette case in the original luxury presentation hand painted Birchwood box c1914. The box has been awarded personally by Tsar Nicholas II to Major-General Prince Konstantin “Kote” Abkhazi(1867-1923). He was a Georgian Major General and politician.During the Imperial rule, he was a major general in the tsar’s army, and a recognized leader of the liberal nobility of Georgia. After the Revolution he emerged as one of the leaders of an underground anti-communist movement. In 1923, he was arrested and executed by the Communist’s security police.
The case comes from General’s family estate.
The box is very special-it is decorated with a solid 14k gold inlay of the personal signature of Tsar Nicholas II in the middle of the case! The Nicholas II personal signature can be seen only on the objects awarded personally by Tsar himself. This fact makes the cigarette case exeptionally rare and highly collectible. Above the signature stand the personal royal monogram of Tsar Nicholas II also made of solid 14k gold. The case is decorated with Sapphire Cabochone precious stone thumb-piece set in gold.
The case is 77mm x 66mm. 118 grams heavy. Excellent condition. The case is gold plated inside. Hallmarked “K.Faberge” and with “84” silver hallmark. Scratched with Faberge’s inventory number.
The case comes with an appraisal certificate of authenticty for $20,000.00
