Description
This pocket watch is a rare “Commemorative” or “Presentation” style timepiece featuring the portrait of King Farouk I (1920–1965), the last reigning monarch of Egypt. Farouk was world-renowned as one of the 20th century’s most prolific collectors of high-end horology (his collection famously included the Patek Philippe 1518 and the Vacheron Constantin 57260).
The dial features Eastern Arabic numerals and a enameled portrait of the King in military regalia. While Dent of London served as a royal watchmaker to many courts, pieces featuring the Farouk portrait were often commissioned for the Royal Court as gifts for high-ranking officials, military officers, or as diplomatic souvenirs.

Detailed Description
-
The Movement: A beautiful, high-grade gilded brass movement signed “Dent, London.” It features a lever escapement, a compensated balance wheel, and a sophisticated regulator. Dent is most famous for building the clock for Big Ben (the Great Clock of Westminster), and this movement carries that pedigree of precision.
-
The Dial: A stunning, crisp white enamel dial. The central portrait of King Farouk is vibrant, showing him in his trademark red fez and ceremonial uniform. It features a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position.
-
The Case: A heavy, solid silver case with intricate engine-turning (guilloché) and an unengraved shield on the front, ready for a monogram. The “coin-edged” ribbing on the sides remains sharp.
-
Condition: The movement appears clean and shows signs of high-level craftsmanship. The dial is in excellent condition with no visible hairlines in the photos. The case shows a natural aged patina (tarnish) which can be polished or left as-is for historical character.
